Mainline Music is a forum for the fusion of popular and art cultures in music, theater, dance, and fine art. Its mission is to revive the natural affinity of art and revelry and establish a creative asylum for artists and audiences. Mainline is both a residency and concert series, offering resident artists one week of unfettered access to space and technical resources culminating in a public work-in-progress performance. Mainline recruits, nurtures, and presents unconventional performers, composers, and other unclassifiable artists of exceptionally high caliber, enabling them the freedom to take risks during the incubation of new work.
Founded in 2016, Mainline Music is the brainchild of vocalist and producer, Majel Connery. Mainline is supported by Opera Cabal, a company dedicated to rewiring the operatic paradigm through bold experiments in music, theater, and multimedia. During its inaugural year, Mainline is generously hosted by the Starline Social Club.
Starline Social Club
Starline Social Club is fast becoming Oakland's top destination for innovative performance and conviviality. Passionately "artist-forward," the Starline is committed to facilitating artists, musicians, chefs and community-based entrepreneurs in the presentation of music, performance, and the literary, visual, and culinary arts. The space was founded in 2015 by Sam White, Adam Hatch, Drew Bennett, and Eric Siemens, local artists and restauranteurs with deep ties to Oakland.
The 2-level venue includes a 90-person restaurant and bar and a cavernous 400-person ballroom sporting a state-of-the-art Meyer Sound system. An adjoining cabaret space functions as an art gallery, secondary bar, and event space. Open 7 nights a week until 2am, the Starline's marriage of eclectic entertainment, upscale historic décor, and insanely tasty gustation has made it a magnet for a diverse and curious community in the East Bay.
